HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Elon University women's lacrosse dropped an 18-12 decision in its regular-season finale against Hofstra on Saturday, April 30.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Sammy Fisher and
Gillian Curran found the back of the net within the first two minutes of the game to give the Phoenix an early 2-0 lead (13:19). However, the Pride then responded with five unanswered goals to hold a three-goal advantage (5-2). Both teams scored once in the remaining 7:55 to make the first-quarter score 6-3.
-After the Pride took a 9-3 lead,
Cierra Hopson and
Bella Feldmann scored back-to-back goals to cut the Hofstra lead to four with 2:04 on the clock (9-5). The Pride scored less than one minute later, but
Cate Mackel closed the half with a goal in the final seconds to bring the Phoenix score up to six at the half (10-6).

Camryn Levin and
Emma Flynn scored both of Elon's goals in the third quarter as the Pride increased its lead to five heading into the final fifteen minutes of play (13-8).
-With 10:42 on the clock and Hofstra leading 15-9,
Hannah McCarthy ignited a 3-1 run to once again put the maroon and gold within four goals of the Pride (16-12). However, two Hofstra goals in the remaining time resulted in the Pride's six-goal victory.
NOTES
-Curran, Feldmann, Fisher and McCarthy led the Elon offense with two goals apiece. Curran also led the team in both draw controls (6) and assists (2).

Julia Dalmass recorded three ground balls, pacing the maroon and gold in addition to matching her career high.
-Levin's goal marked her first of the season.
-In goal,
Paige Brown tallied nine saves on the day.
