RICHMOND, Va. – The Elon University softball team had three members of its program receive All-Colonial Athletic Association honors as the league announced its softball postseason awards on Wednesday, May 11 with the Phoenix's trio of
Rebecca Murray,
Gabi Schaal and
Taylor Cherry being recognized.
Murray received All-CAA first team laurels as the outfielder led the Phoenix at the plate during her senior campaign. Murray also ranks in the top-10 of the league in batting average, on-base percentage (.415), runs scored (28), hits (51), doubles (13) and total bases (80).
Schaal earned a spot on the league's second team during her sophomore campaign. The Lakeland, Fla., native finished the regular season ranked second in the CAA in RBI (38) and home runs (nine) despite missing the past eight games due to injury. Her 18 extra-base hits rank second on the team and she paces the squad with 12 multi-RBI contests including six games with three RBI.
Cherry was an All-Rookie team selection after the first-year made a team-best 21 appearances and 13 starts in the circle.
