Elon, N.C. - The Elon University softball team recognized seven seniors prior to Friday evening's non-conference contest against NC Central. The Phoenix then jumped ahead 5-0 after two innings before severe weather stopped the contest in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game will not be finished or made up at a later date.
Elon outhit NC Central 5-1 and scored three times in the first and two more in the second before lightning stopped the contest. The Phoenix picked up RBIs from
Bella Devesa,
Megan White,
Raelyn McGarry and
Drew Menscer.
Katie Hoover started the game and pitched 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit, while striking out one.
McKenzie Weber pitched the final 1.1 innings without allowing a base runner.
