RICHMOND, Va. – Senior
Vemund Hole Vik of the Elon University men's soccer team was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday, Sept. 12.
Hole Vik helped the Phoenix earn a 1-0 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday, Sept. 10 as Elon earned its first three points in league play. The Aalesund, Norway, native had the assist on the Phoenix's lone goal of the match. He also aided the Phoenix's backline to post its league-best third clean sheet of the year.
Hole Vik becomes the second Phoenix player to receive the CAA Defensive Player of the Week accolade this season. Goalkeeper
Ryan Bilichuk was also honored by the league office on Aug. 29.
The Phoenix takes its first true road trip of the season when it travels to former conference rival Furman on Tuesday, Sept. 13. That match is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start time.
