ELON, N.C. — One day after receiving the first CAA Defensive Player of the Week award of her career, Elon women's soccer senior Beky Myers earned an honorable mention spot on the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week on Tuesday.
 
A Fairfax, Va., native, Myers anchored the Phoenix defense as it posted back-to-back shutouts against Northeastern and Monmouth last week en route to its first 2-0 start to CAA play since joining the league in 2014. This marks the first time Elon has opened any sort of league play with consecutive clean sheets since 2000, when the Phoenix was in the Big South.
 
Myers notched an assist while playing all 90 minutes in Elon's 2-0 victory over Northeastern on Thursday. The assist — which came on Bethany Harford's goal in the seventh minute — was the co-captain's third of the year, good for the team lead and a career high.
 
Myers followed that effort with another stellar performance in Sunday's 1-0 win over Monmouth. The Hawks entered the match ranked first in the CAA in scoring offense (2.56 goals per game), but behind Myers, the Phoenix handed Monmouth its second loss and first shutout in 10 games this season. One of Myers' most notable plays came in the 83rd minute, when she made a sensational sliding tackle along the end line to thwart what proved to be Monmouth's last legitimate scoring chance.
 
The only CAA team that has yet to concede a goal through two conference matches, Elon will begin a four-match road swing Thursday when it visits Delaware. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
