"It was great to get our spring season underway," head coach
Michael Leonard said. "I thought we played very well in doubles. Wake Forest responded and played well in singles."
HIGHLIGHTS
- Elon won the doubles point with victories in the Nos. 1 and 2 spots. This is the first time the Phoenix has won the doubles point against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent since Jan. 12, 2019, against Duke. Elon was winless in its last seven doubles sessions against ACC teams.
- Playing in the No. 1 spot, the pair of Daniel Martin and Oskar Antinheimo raced out to a double-break lead. After Wake Forest's team of Filippo Moroni and Juan Lopez got one of the breaks back, Martin and Antinheimo broke again to win the match 6-2.
- Making his Phoenix debut, Ahmed Hosni paired with Nicholas Campbell to earn a 6-4 win in the No. 2 spot and clinch the doubles point for the Phoenix.
- Nicholas Condos won Elon's first singles set of the season, taking the second frame 6-4 against Wake Forest's Luciano Tacchi.
