CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Elon University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the XC-23 NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Against a strong field, Elon's men scored 291 points to finish 11th in the Orange 8K race and the Phoenix women posted 275 points to place 14th in the Orange 6K event.

Men's Recap

• Sophomore Evan Taylor paced the Phoenix in 54th place with a time of 25:25.3. Daniel King came home shortly after Taylor, as the junior clocked a 25:37.5 to finish 70th.
• Colby Robbins and Nate Mars were separated at the finish by just four tenths of a second, as the sophomores came across the line in 90th and 91st place. Robbins ran a 25:59.6 and Mars a 26:00.0.
• Caden Strickland also finished in the top 100, as his 26:11.5 brought him home in 97th place.

Women's Recap

• Freshman Kate Buerger was the maroon and gold's top finisher, as she placed 48th with a 21:58.0, Elon's only time under 22 minutes.
• Less than a second separated sophomores Julia Bell and Sarah Petitjean at the finish, as Bell placed 76th with a time of 22:21.7 and Petitjean ran a 22:22.1 to finish 77th.
• Freshmen Quinn Smith, Hannah Weber and Madi Galindo rounded out Elon's finishers as all three finished in the top 100.

Up Next

• Elon will compete at the CAA Championships in Richmond, Va., on Oct. 27. The Phoenix women will look to win their fifth straight conference championship at the meet.
