Volleyball Hosts Delaware For Senior Day, Final Regular Season Series

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University volleyball team returns home to close out its regular season against Delaware on Saturday and Sunday. Both matches are slated for 2 p.m. start times.

Elon will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, as the team will recognize Presly Austin, Lily Emlong and Jordan Gower prior to first serve.

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Phoenix fell in a pair of matches at Towson last weekend. The Tigers defeated Elon in straight sets on both Saturday and Sunday.
  • On Saturday, Sydney Love recorded a team-high 11 kills, her 12th match this season tallying double-digit kills.
  • Jessica Parker continued to pace the Phoenix in assists with 30 on the weekend, averaging 5.0 assists per set.
  • On Saturday, Jordan Gower, Cameron Lanier and Parker all tallied a team-high six digs.
  • On Sunday, Keira Kasten led the Phoenix with 10 kills while Caroline Berlekamp, Kyla Johnson and Love led in blocks with two apiece.
  • Caroline Doyle led the team in aces with two and was tied for second on the team in digs with four in Sunday's match.
 
PHOENIX FACTS
  • Cameron Lanier continues to lead the team in kills this season with 214 and is second on the team in blocks with 58.
  • Jessica Parker is seventh in the conference with 550 assists and eighth in assists per set with 6.18. The freshman has tallied double-digit assists in all 25 matches this season and has reached 25 assists on nine occasions. The Winfield, Ill., native also has three double doubles this season, ranks No. 9 in the league in aces (33) and aces per set (0.37).
  • With 4.24 digs per set, Jordan Gower leads Elon's back row and ranks third in the conference in the category. The senior has double-digit digs in all but six appearances this season and has reached 20 digs eight times. Gower ranks No. 5 in program history with 1,730 digs.
  • Freshman Caroline Berlekamp paces the Phoenix in blocks (62.0) and is tied with Kyla Johnson with a team-high 0.84 blocks per set.
  • Sydney Love is second on the team in kills with 199, as the junior has double-digits in 12 matches this season. Love's 42 blocks are also the fourth best on the team.
  • As a team, Elon is seventh in the CAA in service aces per set (1.56), tied for seventh in the league in blocks per set (1.90) and eighth in digs per set (13.93).
 
THE MATCHUP
  • The all-time series between the teams is tied 7-7.
  • The Phoenix holds a 4-3 edge over the Blue Hens when playing at home.
  • Elon has won the last five meetings, including three in Schar Center with the two most recent being on Sept. 25-26, 2021, when the Phoenix won in a tight five-set battle on Saturday followed by a 3-0 sweep on Sunday.
 
SCOUTING DELAWARE
  • The Blue Hens enter the weekend with a 20-4 overall record, including a 13-3 mark in league play.
  • Delaware is currently alone in second place in the conference standings going into the final weekend of regular season play.
  • Currently on an 11-match winning streak, Delaware's most recent victories came last weekend on Nov. 4-5 when they swept North Carolina A&T both Saturday and Sunday.
  • Lani Mason leads the Blue Hens and ranks No. 3 in the CAA in kills with 325.
  • Kirah Johnson leads the team in blocks with 94 which ranks fourth in the league. Johnson also ranks third in the conference with a .366 hitting percentage and leads the team in the category.
  • Ezgi Basaranlar's 825 assists are a team-high and third best in the conference. She has double-digit assists in every match this season and has posted at least 30 assists on 20 occasions.
  • With 324 digs, Eileen Gex leads the Blue Hens and ranks No. 6 in the CAA in the category. The graduate student has posted double digit digs in all but four matches this season.
  • As a team, Delaware ranks second in the conference in hitting percentage (.255) and blocks per set (2.43).
  • The Blue Hens are led by second year head coach Kimberly Lambert, who previously held the associate head coach tag for three seasons.
