TOWSON, Md. – The Elon University volleyball team was unable to stop a strong Towson offense as the Phoenix fell 3-0 on Saturday, Nov. 4 at TU Arena.
Elon 0, Towson 3 (13-25, 19-25, 18-25)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Towson came out to an early lead in the opening set, building a strong 19-9 advantage through the frame. The Phoenix could only rally off four more points before Towson won the first set 25-13.
- Tied at 5-5 to start the second set, Elon found a strong momentum going on a 5-0 run thanks to a block from Lindsey Harris and Cameron Lanier, a Harris kill and three Towson errors to pull ahead 10-5. Towson responded winning 11 of the next 16 points to take the lead 16-15. Tied at 18-18, the Tigers went on a 7-1 run to take the second set 25-19.
- Early in the third set, Towson controlled the momentum, leading 14-8. Elon answered with three straight points thanks to back-to-back kills from Sydney Love and one from Keira Kasten. The Phoenix tried to cut the lead late in the set but ultimately came up short as Towson closed out the set and match 25-18.
NOTES
FROM HEAD COACH MARY TENDLER
"Even though we lost tonight, there were definitely some positives. We defended well in the second set and our offense got going in the third. Syd's experience really showed tonight, she made some great decisions at the net. It's a quick turnaround to the match tomorrow, which will be good for us."
UP NEXT
- The maroon and gold will be back in TU Arena tomorrow for a 2 p.m. match against the Tigers.
