Women’s Basketball Falls To East Carolina In Home Opener

ELON, N.C. — The Elon women's basketball opened its 2023-24 season on Monday at home with a 68-37 loss to East Carolina.

Freshman Ava Leroux led the Phoenix with 10 points on 4-4 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds.

"I felt like we had a lot of opportunities tonight, in terms of offense, the ball just did not fall for us tonight but I feel good about our team and where we're headed," said head coach Charlotte Smith. "We'll learn a lot from this game in preparation for our upcoming games. We had 40-plus rebounds and that's our goal to have that amount of rebounds but we simply did not shoot the ball well tonight and that's something that is an easy fix."
