Elon, N.C. – Elon University cornerback
Jaidyn Denis has been named an All-American by Pro Football Focus (PFF), as announced this week. Denis was one of 25 players, including just two cornerbacks, named to this highly exclusive group, which was voted on by 13 PFF analysts and data collectors.
PFF's 2023 FCS All-American Team
Denis, who graduates from Elon this month, had 40 tackles, 27 of which were solo, in 2023, adding 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He had three interceptions, eight pass break-ups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
In his most dominant outing of the season, Denis had 10 tackles at Gardner-Webb, forcing two fumbles and recovering one as well. He had 1.5 tackles for loss and a pass break-up. He had an interception in each of Elon's win over ranked opponents, doing so against William & Mary and Delaware. He added another pick-off against North Carolina A&T.
Denis is the third player to earn All-American recognition in the past two seasons, joining
Marcus Hillman and
Skyler Davis from a year ago. In Head Coach
Tony Trisciani's five-year tenure, four players have earned All-American status. Along with Denis, Hillman and Davis, Greg Liggs, Jr. was named an All-American in 2019.
The Associated Press has handed out 15 All-American nods to Elon players since the University moved to NCAA Division I in time for the 2000 season. The Sports Network/Stats FCS has recognized 20 Phoenix in that time as well. Prior to the program's move to NCAA Division I, Elon developed players who garnered 35 All-American designations.
