ELON, N.C. – In its first match of the season at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, the Elon University women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 victory against Longwood on Wednesday.

"It was nice to have our first home match today," head coach
Elizabeth Anderson said. "They competed hard and played well in doubles and singles."
With the win, Elon has won its last two matches and is 5-2 on the season. Longwood fell to 0-4 with the loss.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Elon won in the Nos. 2 and 3 spots to clinch the doubles point. Miray Konar and Helen Sarikulaya picked up their second win as a team this season with a 6-1 result on Court 3 before the team of Julie Ball and Madison Cordisco, playing their first match together this season, clinched with a 6-1 victory on Court 2.
- Konar picked up Elon's first singles victory of the day with a 6-0, 6-3 win against Longwood's Nina Hederich on Court 6. The sophomore is now 4-0 this season in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
- With a 6-3, 6-3 result on Court 4 against Karina Rizvanova, Ball put the Phoenix ahead 3-0. The senior is now 5-2 on the season in singles with all five wins coming in straight sets.
- Reigning Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week Sibel Tanik clinched the match for the Phoenix, defeating Emma Nurgazieva 6-4, 6-2 on Court 1. Tanik has won six consecutive singles contests and has clinched the last two matches for Elon.
- Playing No. 2 singles, Lizette Reding earned a 6-3, 6-2 win against Sophia Marchetta. The junior is now 3-1 this season at the No. 2 position.
- After losing the second set of her match on Court 5, Olivia Archer rebounded to defeat Wiktoria Czerny 10-4 in a match tiebreak. The win was the 60th of Archer's career, breaking a tie with Erica Braschi (2014-18) for the second-most career singles victories in Elon's Division I history.
- Helen Sarikulaya battled to defeat Maria Saez in a match tiebreak on Court 3, winning 6-4, 4-6, 10-2. The freshman is now 5-2 on the season in singles and 4-0 playing in the No. 3 position.
- This was Elon's first win by a 7-0 score since the Phoenix defeated UNC Greensboro on April 13, 2022.
- This was the second time this season Elon has swept singles, as the Phoenix also did so against Campbell on Jan. 20.

Elon travels to face Charlotte on Feb. 25. The match is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
