CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team suffered a setback on Saturday, falling to No. 34 Charlotte on the road 4-0.

With the loss, Elon drops to 5-3 on the season. The 49ers improve to 9-4. 
 
THE RUNDOWN

• Charlotte, who entered the match ranked No. 34 in this week's ITA rankings, won all three doubles contests to go ahead 1-0. Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding fell 6-2 to Charlotte's top team of Margaux Maquet and Lucia Quiterio, who are ranked No. 55 in the ITA doubles rankings. The 49ers clinched the doubles point with a win at the No. 2 position. 
• Maquet made it 2-0 for Charlotte with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Helen Sarikulaya on Court 4. 
• Julie Ball fell 6-1, 6-4 on Court 5 to Charlotte's Emma Wilkins, who gave the 49ers a 3-0 advantage.
• Ruxi Schech clinched the match for Charlotte with a 6-3, 6-1 win on Court 1 over Tanik. 
• Reding won the opening set of her match on Court 3, but it went unfinished. Madison Cordisco also won a set in her match, but it was abandoned in the final set. After dropping the opening set, Olivia Archer held a lead in the second when the match was stopped.
