BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Elon University men's tennis team had its three-match winning streak snapped on Thursday, falling 6-1 against Gardner-Webb. 
 
With the loss, Elon is now 5-4 on the season. The win was Gardner-Webb's eighth straight, as the Runnin' Bulldogs now hold an 8-2 record.
 
THE RUNDOWN

• Gardner-Webb picked up wins in Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead. 
• After the Runnin' Bulldogs won No. 6 singles, Ben Zipay posted the first point of the day for Phoenix on Court 5, defeating Gardner-Webb's Sebastian Harris 6-4, 6-1. Zipay is now 3-0 on the season in singles, with this being his first win at the No. 5 spot. 
• Gardner-Webb won on Court 3 to take a 3-1 lead and clinched the match with a victory on Court 4. Oskar Antinheimo won the opening set of his match against Gardner-Webb's Numa Lemieux-Monette in the No. 4 spot but lost the final two. 
• The Runnin' Bulldogs added a pair of wins in final sets on Courts 1 and 2 to tally a 6-1 win. 
• Three of Elon's five singles losses came in a final set. 
• The Phoenix lost three opening sets in tiebreaks.

Elon plays another road match on Sunday, as the Phoenix travels to Raleigh to face No. 35 North Carolina State. The contest will begin at 4:30 p.m.
