GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team continued its strong start to the season on Friday, as the Phoenix defeated UNC Greensboro 6-1 at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center for its third straight win.

With the victory, Elon improved to 3-1 on the season, while UNCG fell to 2-5 with the loss.
HIGHLIGHTS
- In doubles, Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding earned their second win of the season with a 6-4 result on Court 1.
- For the second straight match, the freshman duo of Madison Cordisco and Helen Sarikulaya clinched the doubles point for the Phoenix, as they won 6-3 in the No. 3 position.
- Shortly after Elon's win on Court 3, Olivia Archer and Julie Ball completed their first doubles win of the season with a 6-3 decision on Court 2.
- Playing in the No. 2 spot for the second time this season, Lizette Reding rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory against UNCG's Alexandra Dodashev. The win was Reding's third straight, as the junior has now won six consecutive sets.
- On Court 5, Archer cruised to a 6-0 opening set victory against Luna Urso of UNCG. The senior held on to win the second 6-3 to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Phoenix. The victory was the 58th of Archer's career, tying her for third all-time with Barbora Lazarova (2012-15) in all-time singles wins at Elon.
- For the second time in her freshman season, Sarikulaya clinched a match for Elon. Sarikulaya won the opening set 6-4 but dropped the second 6-2. She rallied for a 6-3 final set to defeat UNCG's Hanna Giddings, putting Elon up 4-1.
- Tanik came from a set behind to win 7-5 in the third against UNCG's Arina Babkova in the No. 1 spot. The win was Tanik's third straight, as the senior has now won 13 of her last 16 singles contests in the No. 1 position.
- Miray Konar capped off Elon's stellar singles session with a dramatic win in a third-set tiebreak. The tiebreak was tied 7-7 before Konar won the final two points to clinch the match. Both of Konar's singles victories this season have come in final-set tiebreaks.
- With the win, Elon is off to a 3-1 start for the second time in the last three seasons.
- The Phoenix has now won its last four matches played at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center dating back to the 2021 season.
