GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches and completed a 6-0 homestand on Tuesday, as the Phoenix defeated Morgan State and Shaw at the Simkins Indoor Tennis Center.

Elon began the day with a 4-1 victory over Morgan State and followed it up with a 5-0 result against Shaw. With the wins, Elon is now 11-3 on the season, while Morgan State fell to 2-6 and Shaw to 2-2. 
 
THE RUNDOWN VS. MORGAN STATE

• Miray Konar and Helen Sarikulaya picked up Elon's first victory of the day at No. 3 doubles with a 6-1 score. 
• At No. 1 doubles, Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding, who were named the Colonial Athletic Association's Doubles Team of the Week for the second straight week and third time this season on Tuesday, won 6-4 to clinch the doubles point for the Phoenix. The tandem has now won its last five matches and is 30-5 in total games over that stretch. 
• Reding delivered Elon's first singles win of the day with a 6-0, 6-1 decision against Morgan State's Ana-Lei Kalawe on Court 3. 
• Olivia Archer put the Phoenix ahead 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 result at No. 5 singles against Lauryn Hall. 
• After Morgan State won No. 2 singles, Tanik clinched for the Phoenix with a tight 7-6, 6-4 victory on Court 1 against Averiana Mitchell. It was her ninth singles win of the season, all of which have come at the No. 1 spot.  

 
THE RUNDOWN VS. SHAW

• Elon swept the doubles matches to take the doubles point and go ahead 1-0. 
• Miray Konar and Helen Sarikulaya picked up their second win of the day, this time winning 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. It was their first match of the season at No. 2 instead of No. 3 doubles.
• Julie Ball and Madison Cordisco clinched the doubles point for the Phoenix with a 6-1 win on Court 1. It was their first match of the season at the No. 1 position as the duo improved to 4-1 together. 
• Olivia Archer and Shauna Galvin improved to 2-0 on the season at No. 3 doubles with a 6-2 victory. 
• Archer picked up Elon's first singles win, defeating Shaw's Sevval Ozseker 6-0, 6-1 on Court 5. With her two wins on Tuesday, Archer now has 66 career singles victories and is now just three away from surpassing Frida Jansaker's (2011-14) to become Elon's all-time Division I leader in singles wins. Archer's 11 victories this season are the most on the team. 
• Ball won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles against Chetna Kumari to give Elon a 3-0 advantage. The senior has now won 11 singles sets this season by either a 6-0 or 6-1 score, the most on the team. 
• Lizette Reding clinched the match for the Phoenix with a 6-0, 6-1 result on Court 2 against Prerana Koirala. The junior is currently on a five-match winning streak in both singles and doubles and is 4-1 on the season playing No. 2 singles. 
• Miray Konar improved to 7-0 on the season in singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Hafsa Sanhaji. The sophomore is 2-0 at No. 5 and 5-0 at No. 6 this season. 
• The Phoenix is 55-19 on the season in singles, good enough for a 74% winning percentage. 
• Elon has won the doubles point in six straight matches, its longest streak of the season. 

 
UP NEXT
Elon returns to the road to face UNCW on Thursday at 2 p.m. The match will be the first on the road for the Phoenix since Feb. 25.
