WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to seven with a 5-2 road win against UNCW on Thursday.

Elizabeth Anderson said. "Our team was really gritty and determined. I'm very proud of how they have fought over this long stretch of matches."
With the win, Elon is now 12-3 on the season. UNCW is 6-6 with the loss.
THE RUNDOWN
- Elon staged a comeback in all three doubles matches to win a dramatic doubles point.
- From 4-1 down, Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding reeled off the final five games to win 6-4 on Court 1. The reigning Colonial Athletic Association Doubles Team of the Week has now won its last six matches playing No. 1 doubles and is 9-3 on the season.
- UNCW tied doubles at 1-1 with a win in the No. 2 spot. Julie Ball and Madison Cordisco saved three match points and came back from 5-2 down to make it 5-4 but lost the final game to lose 6-4.
- Miray Konar and Helen Sarikulaya battled from 4-2 down to force a tiebreak on Court 3. The duo won it 7-4 on a volley winner by Konar to clinch doubles for the Phoenix. The tandem is 6-2 together this season.
- For the fifth time this season, Ball finished first in singles for the Phoenix, winning 6-4, 6-4 against UNCW's Stela Joksimovic in the No. 5 spot. Ball came from 4-0 down in the second set.
- Reding matched her six-match doubles winning streak by extending her winning streak in singles to six on Court 3 with a 6-2, 6-0 result against Anna Daniels. The junior is 5-2 on the season at the No. 3 position.
- Olivia Archer secured the winning point for the Phoenix with a 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles against Gabbie Glickstein. The win was the 67th of Archer's career, bringing her within one of tying Frida Jansaker's (2011-14) all-time Division I Elon record at 68.
- Tanik rallied after dropping the opening set on Court 1 to post Elon's final point of the day with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Zoe Huffman. The win was Tanik's 10th of the season and third in either a final set or match tiebreak.
- With the victory, the Phoenix improved to 3-3 on the season in road contests.
- Elon's current seven-match winning streak is its longest since it rattled off nine consecutive victories in 2020.
- The Phoenix has won the doubles point in all seven matches of its current winning streak.
- Elon has won at least four singles contests in 12 of its 15 matches this season, including in all 12 of its victories.
- The Phoenix has now won its last seven meetings against UNCW dating back to March 10, 2018.
UP NEXT
Elon returns home to kick off a four-match homestand against College of Charleston on March 25. The contest will start at 10 a.m.
