WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The No. 4 seeded Elon University women's tennis team blanked No. 5 Stony Brook 4-0 on Friday in the quarterfinals to advance in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament. William & Mary is hosting the tournament at the Mackesy Tennis Center.

"I was really excited with how the team came out in doubles. We started really focused and had a lot of really good momentum," head coach
Elizabeth Anderson said. "I thought we displayed a lot of grit in singles and did a good job getting it done. I'm proud of them for fighting so hard."
With the victory, Elon improves to 16-6 on the season and will face No. 1 seed and host William & Mary in tomorrow's semifinal round. Stony Brook finishes its season with an 11-8 record.
THE RUNDOWN
- Olivia Archer and Miray Konar picked up Elon's first win of the day with a 6-3 result at No. 3 doubles. It was the duo's first win together in four tries this season.
- With a 6-2 victory at the No. 1 spot, Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding clinched the doubles point for Elon. The pairing is now 11-6 on the season with all the wins coming at the No. 1 position.
- Archer made it 2-0 for Elon with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Stony Brook's Mathilde Sreeves on Court 5. The win was Archer's 17th on the season, 14th in a row and 72nd of her career. She is a perfect 7-0 playing the No. 5 spot this season.
- On Court 4, Julie Ball battled past Kristi Boro 7-6, 6-4 to make it 3-0 for the Phoenix. Ball trailed 6-5 in the opening set but broke serve to force a tiebreak, which she won 7-3 to take the set. The senior then won a tight second to secure the win. It was her fifth victory of the season at the No. 4 spot.
- Minutes after Ball's victory, Reding clinched the match for Elon with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph against Kristine Theys on Court 2. It was her first time clinching a tournament match for the Phoenix. The junior is now 11-7 on the season with six of the wins coming at the No. 2 spot.
- Konar was one game away from winning when the match was stopped, as she led 6-2, 5-3 on Court 6 against Debby Mastrodima.
- After dropping her first set, Helen Sarikulaya led 5-4 in the second against Chandrika Joshi on Court 3 before the match was stopped.
- Tanik also lost her opening set at No. 1 singles against Lore Villalba Rubio but came from 5-2 down in the second to make it 5-4 when the match was halted.
- The win improves Elon's record in the quarterfinal round of the CAA Tournament to 8-0. The Phoenix has now won at least one match in all eight of its CAA tournament appearances.
UP NEXT
- The Phoenix will take on No. 1 William & Mary tomorrow at 9 a.m. The match was originally on for a 12 p.m. start but has been moved up due to the threat of afternoon rain.
- William & Mary earned a 4-0 victory over No. 9 North Carolina A&T earlier in the day in the quarterfinals.
- The Tribe defeated the Phoenix 6-1 on April 8 at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center in their most recent meeting.
- William & Mary has handed Elon its last four CAA Tournament losses, including in last season's championship match.
