THE RUNDOWN
  • Due to rain early on Friday, all matches were moved inside to William & Mary's McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. Singles was played before doubles in all four quarterfinal matches per conference championship policy.
  • Playing at the No. 1 spot, Daniel Martin posted Elon's first point of the match with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Delaware's James Wilkinson. The win was Martin's team-best 16th of the season and his second of the season against Wilkinson, as he also defeated Delaware's No. 1 by a 6-1, 6-2 score on March 30.
  • Oskar Antinheimo raced to a 6-2, 6-2 win on Court 5 against Udayan Bhakar to put the Phoenix up 2-0. It was the freshman's 14th victory of the season, his fourth straight and his ninth at the No. 5 spot.
  • After a Blue Hens victory at the No. 6 spot, Nicholas Condos made it 3-1 in favor of Elon with a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win over Alexandre Gluck. Condos trailed 4-1 in his opening-set tiebreak but rallied to win it 7-5 before cruising in the second set. The senior has now won his last three singles appearances.
  • Nicholas Campbell dropped the first set on Court 2 against Luis Molina but charged back to win the next two sets 6-1 and 6-2 to secure the winning point for the Phoenix. The win was the senior's first since March 23 against Davidson as he snapped a four-match skid.
  • Veljko Krstic was one game away from winning when Campbell clinched the match for Elon, as the freshman was up 4-6, 6-4, 5-4 on Court 3 against William Wibmer.
  • Elon is now 8-0 all-time in CAA Tournament quarterfinal matches.

UP NEXT
  • Elon will face No. 7 Monmouth tomorrow at approximately 3 p.m. The match will be contested at the Mackesy Tenis Center, William & Mary's outdoor facility.
  • Monmouth upset host and No. 2 seed William & Mary 4-0 on Friday in the quarterfinals, becoming the first No. 7 seed to advance to the semifinals at the event. The Hawks are making their first CAA Tournament appearance.
  • The Hawks, who are 18-6 on the season, also defeated No. 10 Hampton by a 4-2 score in the tournament's first round.
