Dominique Battle Named Cornerbacks Coach At Elon

Elon, N.C. – Four-time Big East champion Dominique Battle has been named cornerbacks coach at Elon, as announced by Head Coach Tony Trisciani. Battle comes to Elon after spending a year as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at Slippery Rock.
 
Slippery Rock went 10-3 in 2022, including a mark of 6-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), winning a game in the NCAA Division II playoffs. The team ranked ninth nationally in passes intercepted (17), 13th in the country in scoring defense (16.2 points per game allowed) and No. 22 in the country in total defense (286.2 yards allowed per game).
 
Prior to his time at Slippery Rock, Battle spent two years as a defensive back coach and special teams coordinator at Benedictine University, where he also assisted student-athletes with their academics. Prior to his time at Benedictine, Battle spent a year as a cornerbacks coach and equipment manager at Morehead State. He was also a defensive quality control coach at Eastern Kentucky.
 
A 2012 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Battle was part of the 2009 Bearcats football team inducted into the Cincinnati Hall of Fame in 2019. Battle helped the Bearcats to Big East titles in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012 and appearances in the 2008 Orange Bowl, 2009 Sugar Bowl, 2011 Liberty Bowl and 2012 Belk Bowl. He earned the Jim Kelly Hold the Rope Award for the Cincinnati defense in 2012 and was the Cincinnati Newcomer of the Year Award winner in 2008.
 
Battle and his wife, Jordan, are the parents of two boys, Xaiden and Kailo.
