ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's tennis team and head coach
Michael Leonard announced the addition of three players for the 2023-24 season on Friday.
Dylan Heap
A native of Christchurch, New Zealand, Dylan Heap joins the Phoenix after completing prior stints at the University of Minnesota (2019-21) and Rice University (2021-23). Heap will pursue a master's degree in business analytics as he completes his final year of athletic eligibility. Heap won 10 dual doubles matches in his two seasons at Rice and appeared at the Nos. 1-4 singles spots for the Owls. He was named an ITA Scholar Athlete and to the ITA All-Academic Team in 2021-22. Heap is the son of Steve Heap and Michele McMaster and has two brothers, Connor and Isaac.
Juan Sengariz
Sengariz comes to Elon after spending the last two seasons at Anderson University. Sengariz, who hails from Santander, Spain, had a career singles record of 19-4 at Anderson and was named to the South Atlantic Conference Second Team for singles in 2022 and the league's First Team for singles in 2023. Sengariz was also named Anderson's MVP for the 2023 season. He is the son of Fernando Sengariz and Yolanda Carral Meignan and has a sister, Paula. Sengariz plans to major in mathematics.
Alonso Roca
An incoming freshman from Lima, Peru, Roca is the son of Jose Roca and Katherin Pantoja. He has a younger sister, Mia. Roca attended Newton College in Lima. Roca currently has a UTR score of 10.65 in singles and has a 10-7 singles record this year in ITF junior events.
