CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team fell 7-0 in its season opener at No. 1 North Carolina, the defending NCAA national champions, on Saturday. The match was played indoors at the Cone-Kenfield Indoor Tennis Center.

THE RUNDOWN
- North Carolina swept doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the contest. All three Tar Heels doubles duos that played Saturday are currently ranked in the top 25 of the current ITA doubles rankings.
- The Tar Heels won all six singles matches in straight sets to complete a 7-0 victory. Five of North Carolina's six players in Saturday's singles lineup are ranked in the top 50 of the ITA singles rankings.
- Freshmen Ella Suk and Mariana Reding made their dual match debuts on Saturday. Reding played in both doubles and singles, while Suk made an appearance at No. 6 singles.

Elon will face Longwood on Jan. 19 in its home opener at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
