Elon Falls to Charleston On Princess Day

ELON, N.C. – A strong offensive performance from Ajia James was not enough as the Elon women's basketball team (4-11, 0-2) fell to Charleston (10-3, 2-0) on Sunday afternoon.

James finished with a team-high 14 points, including four three-pointers. Iycez Adams led the Phoenix on the boards with seven rebounds followed by Diamond Monroe with a career-high eight rebounds.

"Today is always a special day, Princess Day, and it's always wonderful to see little young girls who have dreams, hopes and aspirations. It's good to be a motivation and a role model for all of these young women," said head coach Charlotte Smith. "Unfortunately, we were not able to come out with the win today, but we look forward with hope and not back with regret. We have some big games coming up this weekend so hopefully we can regroup and refocus."
