Elon, N.C.- Two second half goals from
Jess Beck and
Isa Murdock was enough to push the Elon Phoenix (10-1-1, 5-1 CAA) past the William & Mary Tribe (7-7, 2-4 CAA) Thursday night. The 2-1 win was capped by
Isa Murdock's goal in the 84
th minute to beat the Tribe for the second straight time at Rudd Field.

The win sees the Phoenix take sole possession of first place in the CAA with 15 points through six games. Elon's five wins in CAA play are the most conference wins through six games since Elon finished 5-1 in Big South play in 2001.

How It Happened
- William & Mary took the first shot of the game with just one minute gone in the game.
- Katie Bisgrove made her first save in the 14th minute when a William & Mary shot was easily saved by Bisgrove.
- Elon's first shot came from Gabby Hoschek in the 35th minute.
- After the Tribe controlled possession, Elon came out swinging with two good chances from Lydia Totten and Jordan Green.
- Following a Tribe clearance, Jess Beck stayed onside and buried a one-on-one chance off a through ball from Kennedy Jones to give Elon the 1-0 lead.
- The Tribe answered Beck's goal with a goal of their own in the 71st minute to draw even.
- Isa Murdock fired two shots on target in quick succession from distance in the 78th minute. A William & Mary corner kick was turned away by the Phoenix which led to the clinical Elon chance. Gabby Hoschek put a through ball right down the middle of the field which found the feet of Murdock. Murdock took three dribbles and fired a left-footed shot across her body which beat the keeper to the far post.
- Elon was able to hold off the final chances from the Tribe and preserved the 2-1 win for their fifth win in six conference games.

Notes and Stats
- Elon put together their fifth win in CAA play in their first six conference games. The 5-1 start is the best start to conference play since Elon finished 5-1 in Big South play in 2001. Â
- Isa Murdock slotted home her fifth goal of the season, tying her for the team lead with Lydia Totten.
- Jess Beck picked up her first collegiate goal, grabbing the first of two Phoenix goals.
- Gabby Hoschek and Kennedy Jones both collected assists in the win. Jones now leads the team in assists with four.
- Katie Bisgrove made six saves in the win over the Tribe. Bisgrove has allowed just 0.55 goals per game and now has a 7-1-1 record.
- Elon currently sits in first place in the CAA table with a 5-1 CAA record with 15 points.
