Elon Drops Home Finale To Campbell

Elon, N.C.- The Elon Phoenix (11-3-1, 6-3 CAA) fell to the Campbell Fighting Camels (6-8-3, 4-5) at Rudd Field Thursday night. Elon loses just their first home game of the season in the 1-0 defeat to Campbell.
 
How It Happened
  • Elon began the game on the front foot with a number of efforts at goal but could not find the target.
  • Lydia Totten had a good chance in the 11th minute, but the shot missed just high from inside the box.
  • Isa Murdock then found a solid chance and her shot missed just wide of the post.
  • Totten followed up that opportunity with the first chance on target. Totten flicked a ball towards the near post, but the Camel goalie was able to grasp it.
  • Following an Elon turnover, Campbell scored on their first shot on goal of the game.
  • To start the second half, Jess Beck had an opportunity inside the six-yard box but the shot was saved.
  • Kennedy Jones and Katie Lowe both had efforts on target with just over 25 minutes left to play.
  • Elon would not put another shot on target and Campbell closed the game out.
 
Notes and Stats
  • Elon currently sits in third place in the CAA table with a 6-3 CAA record with 18 points. The 18 points are the most in Elon's CAA era.
  • Jess Beck and Lydia Totten both led the Phoenix in shots with four each.
  • Elon out-shot the Fighting Camels, 18-5.
  • Elon had four shots on target compared to Campbell's two.

  • The Phoenix will face the UNCW Seahawks on Sunday for their final game in the 2024 regular season. Kickoff from Wilmington will be at 1 pm.
