HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hampton connected on a 33-yard field goal just before the half for a 20-14 lead.
  • To open the second half, Elon forced a three-and-out and the Phoenix quickly took the lead. On the first play from scrimmage, Downing found Onuma Dieke wide open for a 70-yard touchdown and a 21-20 lead.
