Curtain maintains a 3.24 grade point average as a marketing major and will graduate in December in just three-and-a-half years. He impacts the campus community as the president of the Sigma Mu chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He is also on Elon's executive board of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, which governs all campus historically African-American fraternities and sororities. Curtain plans and executes all fraternity service activities from Special Olympics to a "get out the vote" campaign.
On the field of competition, Curtain is a team captain and Second Team All-American in 2023. He was also named First Team All-CAA and earned the Stein H. Basnight Award as the top male athlete at Elon University. This year, he ranks No. 26 nationally in passes defended with a team-high eight. He had an interception against Duke in the season opener and is tied for the team lead with 48 tackles, adding 4.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
The collaboration between FedEx and the Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award underscores a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of student-athletes, ensuring they are well-prepared for success beyond their collegiate careers. Through the Doris Robinson Award and the Career Expose – College Pathways Program, FedEx continues to invest in the future of young leaders, providing them with the tools and resources needed to thrive in the professional world.
Each finalist will be profiled on TheAnalyst.com in November before the recipient will be announced on Dec. 10, then honored at the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Banquet on Jan. 4 in Frisco, Texas.
In addition to the FedEx Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, the awards banquet will celebrate the Walter Payton Award (FCS Offensive Player of the Year), Buck Buchanan Award (FCS Defensive Player of the Year), Jerry Rice Award (FCS Freshman Player of the Year), Eddie Robinson Award (FCS Coach of the Year) and, new this year, the HBCU FCS Player of the Year Award, presented by Urban Edge Network's HBCU+ streaming service.
