LAST TIME OUT
• Elon had split squads competing at the Phoenix XC Invitational and the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Oct. 18-19.
• At the Phoenix Invitational, the Elon men took the team title, scoring 40 points at the meet and beating out VCU (49) and fellow CAA member College of Charleston (56). It was the first meet title for the maroon and gold men since 2019. On the women's side, Elon was second overall with 52 points.
• The Phoenix also saw two runners – Evan Taylor and Jasmine Young – win their respective races in the men's 8K and the women's 6K. Taylor posted a time of 25:27.8 to lead the Phoenix for the first time this season. It is also the first individual title for the Milton, Ontario, native in his career. Caden Strickland was the runner-up in the men's race as the Roswell, Ga., native had a time of 25:38.5. The junior has been in the top two for the Elon men in every race so far this season.
• Young's time of 21:58.7 led the 6K race as the London, England, native paced two Phoenix runners in the top 10. Freshman Karla Hiss was sixth overall with the Paunzhausen, Germany, native clocking a time of 22.22.7.
• At the NCAA Pre-Nationals, the Phoenix scored 385 points and finished 17th overall in the women's 6K "B" race. Mikayla Jones led the Phoenix as the graduate student ran a time of 21:02.6 and garnered a top-25 finish. Hannah Weber set a new personal-best in the race as the sophomore posted a time of 21:30.4 and was 46th overall.

MEN'S RACE PREVIEW
• Elon will look to build off its momentum from its win at the Phoenix Invitational going into the league championships this weekend. Last season, the maroon and gold men were sixth overall at the CAA meet.
• Taylor was the program's top finisher, with his 18th place standing at last year's CAA meet, just missing out on All-CAA honors. Each of the Phoenix's top five runners from last year's meet – Taylor, King, Mars, Anthes and Koenig – are slated to compete again on Friday.

WOMEN'S RACE PREVIEW
• Elon will look to extend its run of five straight league titles on its home course on Friday. Last season, the Phoenix became the first team in the CAA to win five straight CAA titles since William & Mary did so from 2012-2018.
• Synowiec is one of four returning members from last year's championship team scheduled to race on Friday along with Bell, Beville and Young. Synowiec was an All-CAA performer in 2022, finishing as the runner-up in the race, before just missing out on all-league honors last season with her 16th-place finish.
• Newcomers Jones and Martinez will also look to garner All-CAA honors as both harriers have been amongst the top runners for the team all season.

UP NEXT
• The NCAA Southeast Regionals is next on deck for the Phoenix cross country programs on Friday, Nov. 15. That meet will take place in Rock Hill, S.C.
