FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Senior Hannah Weber captured the individual title to lead the Elon women's cross country team to its seventh Coastal Athletic Association championship in the past eight years Friday morning at Bethpage State Park.

Behind a 1-2 finish from Weber and Abby Beville, the Phoenix placed all five scoring runners among the top 15 and totaled 33 points, finishing 45 points ahead of runner-up Monmouth (78). William & Mary (82), Northeastern (88) and Stony Brook (108) rounded out the top five.

The championship marked Elon's second consecutive CAA crown and its eighth conference team title overall, including a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) championship in 1996. It also marked the second team title under third-year cross country head coach Mark Rinker.

Weber covered the 6K course in 20:36.6, moving to No. 8 in program history, while Beville followed in 20:41.3. Weber improved from fourth place at last year's championships, while Beville moved up one spot from third. Both earned All-CAA honors for the third consecutive season.

Weber became the sixth different woman in program history to win an individual conference championship, joining Meg Crawford (1996, SAC), Coralea Geraniotis (2018, CAA), Scolasticah Kemei (2019, CAA), Maria Ahm (2020 and 2021, CAA) and Katie Blount (2025, CAA).

Freshmen Millie Gold and Brynne Gordon each recorded collegiate-best times in their CAA Championships debuts. Gold finished sixth in 20:56.4, while Gordon placed ninth in 21:06.7. Kate Buerger completed Elon's scoring five in 15th at 21:25.7, joining Weber, Beville, Gold and Gordon as All-CAA honorees.

Alicen Ashley added a collegiate-best 21:28.9 to finish 16th, giving Elon six runners among the top 16. Emilia Smith followed in 27th at 21:48.2 as seven Phoenix runners finished under 22 minutes.

The women remained unbeaten this season with their fifth team victory in as many meets. Friday's championship followed regular-season titles at the Elon Opener, Queen City Invite, Richmond Invitational and Princeton Fall Classic.

On the men's side, Elon totaled 165 points to finish fifth, securing its second top-five showing at the CAA Championships in the past five years after also placing fifth in 2024. The Phoenix improved two places from its seventh-place finish a year ago.

Evan Taylor led Elon for the fifth consecutive meet, finishing 17th in the 8K race with a time of 24:51.6. Taylor lowered his previous best of 25:03.0 by 11.4 seconds, moving from No. 10 to No. 7 in program history.

Kevin Steinman (41st, 25:40.7), Franklin Wimbish (47th, 25:52.2) and Seth Steiner (71st, 26:45.9) each recorded collegiate-best times. Steinman, Juan Pablo Castillo-Zima (42nd, 25:42.7), Wimbish and Jack Kane (48th, 25:52.8) joined Taylor in Elon's scoring five.
