HOW IT HAPPENED
- On the opening possession of the game, Sammy Fisher scored unassisted to put Elon ahead early.
- After Queens tied the game, freshman Mia Zebley put Elon on top 2-1 with her second career goal to complete the first quarter scoring. Cierra Hopson's tally early in the second gave Elon its only two-goal lead of the night.
- Queens rallied with six of the next seven goals spanning into the third period to put Elon behind for the first time in 2024. The lone Phoenix goal in that stretch came on a Fisher behind-the-head goal with an assist from Michaud, her second of the night.
- Facing a 7-4 third quarter deficit, Elon rallied as Mikaela Buoscio scored her first of the night on a free-position shot with 10:59 to play in the quarter. Just over a minute later, Fisher recorded her first assist of the game, passing out of a free-position opportunity and finding Hopson for her second goal of the contest.
- Queens, though, answered back with a pair of goals to push the lead back to three at 9-6.
- Once again, Elon rallied. Zebley scored midway through a high-scoring third period on a free-position shot to get the Phoenix back within two. Just over two minutes later, Anna Hackett drove a shot home to make it 9-8. The Phoenix then tied it just a short time later when Buoscio's free-position shot found the back of the net.
- Tied at 9-9 heading into the fourth quarter, Queens scored three straight. Elon tried to come back once more, getting a goal from Hackett, but the Royals closed out the contest with three more in a row.
