RALEIGH, N.C. – The Elon University men's tennis team came up short in its third match this season against an ITA top 25 opponent, as No. 20 North Carolina State defeated the Phoenix 7-0 on Sunday.

With the loss, Elon fell to 5-4 on the season while the Wolfpack improved to 6-3 with the victory.
THE RUNDOWN
- The Wolfpack won at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to take the doubles point. Daniel Martin and Dylan Heap trailed 4-3 on Court 1 when their match was abandoned.
- NC State won in straight sets on all six singles courts to cap off a sweep. Elon was competitive in several sets, winning at least three games in nine of 12.
- Three of the Wolfpack's singles players that competed Sunday are currently ranked inside the ITA's top 125.
- The loss is Elon's third this season against a ranked Atlantic Coast Conference opponent, as the Phoenix previously fell to Wake Forest and North Carolina, who were ranked No. 15 and 25 at the time, respectively.
- The loss snaps Elon's five-match winning streak.
