ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team swept Fairfield on Tuesday, blanking the Stags 7-0 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center for a seventh straight victory.

With the win, Elon moved to 8-4 on the season. Fairfield fell to 1-5 with the loss. 
 
THE RUNDOWN

• The Phoenix won its seventh doubles point in its last eight matches with a pair of victories. 
• On Court 1, Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding returned to the win column with a 6-1 victory. It was their fifth win of the season and 29^th overall as a pairing. 
• Just minutes before they were announced as the CAA's Doubles Team of the Week, Simone Bergeron and Ella Suk clinched the doubles point for the Phoenix with a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 spot. The duo improved to 7-1 on the season with the victory, with all seven of the wins coming by 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 or 6-3 scores. 
• Elon is 18-4 in completed doubles contests at home this season. 
• Playing No. 6 singles for the first time since Feb. 9, Ella Suk topped Fairfield's Lucie Tuttle 6-0, 6-0 to move the Phoenix ahead 2-0. It was Suk's first career singles victory in which she did not drop a single game. The freshman is now 7-5 on the season and has won three matches apiece at the Nos. 4 and 6 spots. 
• Helen Sarikulaya replied in kind to Suk's victory by posting a double bagel of her own on Court 5 against Lily Malinowski. It was Sarikulaya's second 6-0, 6-0 victory of the season, as she also registered one against Norfolk State on Feb. 10. The sophomore has now won her last six completed singles matches and is 3-0 on the season playing the No. 5 position. 
• Making her debut at No. 4 singles, Bergeron secured the winning point for the maroon and gold with a 6-1, 6-3 decision against Francesca Karman. The freshman improved to 4-0 on the season in her completed singles contests. In her nine completed singles sets, Bergeron is yet to drop more than three games in any of them. 
• Freshman Mariana Reding picked up her seventh straight win in singles by defeating Nicolette Loeffler 6-1, 6-4 on Court 3. Reding leads the team with nine singles victories this season and is now 4-0 playing the No. 3 spot. 
• For the first time since April 24, 2021, Sibel Tanik made an appearance at the No. 2 singles spot for the Phoenix. It was a winning return to the position, as she took down Katarina Plumtree 7-5, 6-2 for her sixth singles win of the season and the 45^th of her Elon career. 
• In her second match of the season playing the No. 1 singles spot, Lizette Reding polished off a Phoenix sweep with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Sarah Liu. It was the senior's 46^th career singles win. 
• This was Elon's third 7-0 sweep of the season, all of which have come at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. 
• During its current seven-match winning streak, Elon has amassed 41 of 46 possible points. 
• Elon is 36-4 in completed singles contests during its winning streak, with six of eight players recording four or more victories during that stretch. 
• This is the second straight season the Phoenix has had a winning streak of at least seven matches, as the team won eight in a row from Feb. 28-March 29 last year. 
• Since losing its first match of the season at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, Elon has won its last six appearances at the facility. The Phoenix is 7-1 overall at home, with the other victory coming at Piedmont Indoor Tennis in Greensboro.

Elon will host Methodist and Salem in a Saturday doubleheader at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The first match will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the second match slotted for a 2:30 p.m. start.
