ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to nine on Friday with sweeps against Methodist and Salem.

The Phoenix took down Methodist 7-0 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center to start off the afternoon. In the nightcap against Salem, Elon won the doubles point before rain began to fall, forcing the match to be completed indoors at Starmount Country Club. Elon went on to win 5-0.
With the victories, Elon is now 10-4 on the season.
THE RUNDOWN VS. METHODIST
- Elon won all three doubles matches to take the doubles point.
- Playing the No. 1 position, Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding cruised to a 6-0 victory for their 30th win as a duo.
- Playing together for the second time this season, Miray Konar and Helen Sarikulaya clinched doubles for the Phoenix with a 6-2 win on Court 3. It was their first win of the season together after winning seven matches as tandem in 2023.
- In their first match together this season, Madison Cordisco and Ella Suk finished off doubles with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot. It was Suk's team-best ninth win of the season and the eighth for Cordisco.
- This was the eighth doubles point for the Phoenix in the last nine matches and the fourth time this season winning all three doubles matches.
- In the first singles match to finish, Cordisco improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory on Court 6 against Katie Sechrist of Methodist. It was the first singles win of her career without dropping a game.
- Suk picked up the second win of her career at No. 3 singles, defeating Caitlin Tihanovich 6-0, 6-0 to move the Phoenix ahead 3-0. It was her second straight victory by a 6-0, 6-0 score.
- Sarikulaya delivered Elon's third double-bagel win of the day on Court 4 against Annabelle Subirats. It was her seventh straight victory, three of which have come by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
- Playing singles for the first time since Feb. 16, Konar dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 triumph against Veva Willocks. It was her third straight win in singles.
- After dropping the opening game of her match at the No. 1 position, Tanik won the next 12 against Toni Laney for a 6-1, 6-0 victory. The senior has won six of her last seven appearances in singles. The win was also the 46th of her Elon career.
- Lizette Reding capped off the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Emma Hulicki.
THE RUNDOWN VS. SALEM
- Elon won all three doubles matches to finish the day 6-0 in doubles.
- Helen Sarikulaya and Miray Konar won their second match of the day together at the No. 3 spot with a 6-0 result.
- Playing the No. 2 spot for the first time this season, Simone Bergeron and Ella Suk won their eighth match of the season together by a 6-1 score. The freshmen are 48-14 in total games in their eight wins. Suk became Elon's first player to reach 10 doubles wins on the season with the result.
- Madison Cordisco and Mariana Reding made their season debut at the No. 1 spot and won 6-0. It was their eighth win as a pairing this season, with the first seven coming at the No. 2 position.
- It was Elon's ninth successful doubles point in the last 10 matches.
- Shortly after singles began, rain started falling at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. The conclusion of the match was moved indoors to Starmount Country Club in Greensboro.
- In the first singles contest to finish, Konar wrapped up her fourth win across doubles and singles on the day with a 6-0, 6-0 victory on Court 6 against Jessea James. Konar finished the day 36-4 in total games across doubles and singles.
- Bergeron added a 6-0, 6-0 win of her own playing the No. 5 position against Alana Bridges. She is 5-0 on the season in completed matches and has not dropped more than three games in any of her 10 winning sets.
- Playing the No. 2 spot for the second time in her career, Mariana Reding rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Mariana Faint. It was her ninth win of the season, which has her tied with sister Lizette for the most on the team.
- Lizette matched her sister with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Adley Keim in her third appearance at the No. 1 spot this season. With her two singles wins on the day, Lizette now has 48 victories with the maroon and gold.
