ELON, N.C. – The Elon University softball team travels north to the state of New York for its final CAA road series as the Phoenix (19-25, 13-8 CAA) takes on Stony Brook (30-13, 15-6 CAA) in a three-game set beginning on Friday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at University Field.

SERIES BREAKDOWN
• Elon will make its first visit to Stony Brook in its series history versus the Seawolves as the two programs play in their second season as CAA opponents. Prior to this weekend, the Phoenix holds a 5-1 advantage over Stony Brook in the all-time meetings.
• The Seawolves' lone victory in the series came at the expense of the Phoenix at the CAA Tournament last season as Stony Brook eliminated Elon from the postseason with a 2-1 victory in extras.https://stonybrookathletics.com/sports/2016/8/25/facilities-ston-10-field-html.aspx?id=76
• Stony Brook's win over the Phoenix at the CAAs avenged its series sweep at Elon during last year's regular season meeting. The maroon and gold outscored the Seawolves 20-7 at its three games at Hunt Softball Park.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• Elon swept Hampton in its CAA series last weekend, earning its fourth league series victory of the season and third via a sweep. The wins extended the Phoenix's all-time win record at home over the Lady Pirates to 9-0.
• The Phoenix outscored the Lady Pirates, 19-6, in the three-game set. Elon slashed .300/.525/.387 versus Hampton and also posted a 1.05 ERA over the weekend.
Gabi Schaal led the Phoenix at the plate with her .500 average (5-of-10) with a double, two home runs and four RBI. Schaal was one of six players with a double over the weekend while being one of three Phoenix with a home run.
McKenna McCard had another stellar weekend toeing the rubber for Elon as the junior went 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA in 13.0 innings. The Ashburn, Ga., native also struck out 11 batters.
 
AROUND THE HORN
• Going into this weekend's contest, the Phoenix is currently fifth in the CAA standings with its 13-8 ledger, a game back behind UNCW, who is 14-7. Elon currently has a one-game lead over Hofstra and is a couple of games back behind Stony Brook.
• The Phoenix's offense is hitting .260 overall as a team while also scoring 211 runs with 27 homers and 190 RBI. Elon has posted a .401 slugging percentage with a .355 on-base percentage. In league play, the Phoenix is slashing .305/.455/.406 while scoring 122 runs. 
• Elon ranks in the top five of the CAA in runs scored, doubles (58), triples (11), home runs (27), RBI (190), slugging percentage, walks (139) and stolen bases (55).
• Seering is one of three players in the Phoenix's regular lineup who is hitting .300 or better with her team-best .331 average. The Waxhaw, N.C., native ranks in the top 10 of the league in slugging percentage (.519), hits (44), RBI (31), doubles (10) and triples (three).
• Davis is second on the team with her .321 average and currently sits second in the CAA in on-base percentage at .468. The Bridgewater, Va., native is also in the top 10 of the league in OPS (.956) and runners caught stealing (six).
• During league play, Megan Grant is hitting a team-high .429, scoring 17 runs with seven doubles versus CAA opponent – which are all team-highs. The fifth-year has also drawn 21 walks against conference opponents and leads the CAA in total walks with 26.
• Elon has two players that rank in the top 10 of the CAA in RBI – Seering (4th) and Schaal (5th – 29). Schaal is currently tied for the CAA-lead in homers with eight (six) while Mauri Murray (seven) and Kaitlyn Wells (five) are also in the top 10 of the league.
• McCard leads the Phoenix in the circle with a 2.33 ERA in 105.0 innings of action. She is 10-5 on the year and has 77 strikeouts to her name. She is the first Elon pitcher to reach double-digit victories since 2019. Her ERA is sixth overall in the CAA while she ranks fourth in the league in opposing batting average at .224.
 
SCOUTING STONY BROOK
• The Seawolves head into the series as one of the hottest teams in the nation with a current 17-game winning streak after an 8-6 victory over Iona on Tuesday. That streak is the best active streak in the NCAA.
• Stony Brook, who carries a 30-13 overall ledger into the weekend with a 15-6 CAA mark, has a slash line of .294/.434/.375 with 212 runs, 51 doubles, 28 home runs and 189 RBI. Four players in the Seawolves' regular lineup are hitting above .300 with senior Kyra McFarland leading the way with her CAA-best .417 average.
• Catherine Anne Kupinski is second on the team with her .377 average and is tied with Schaal for the CAA-lead in homers with eight. The senior paces the CAA in slugging percentage with .662 and second in the league in OPS (1.104) with teammate Corinne Badger sitting third at 1.002.
• In the circle, the Seawolves have a team ERA of 3.19, which is fifth in the league, in 276.2 innings with 164 strikeouts and 95 walks allowed. Senior Mia Haynes leads the team with her 2.92 ERA in 127.0 innings while having a 12-6 record. She has also struck out 106 batters on the year.
 
THIS IS ELON SOFTBALL!!
• Elon head coach Kathy Bocock earned her 300th career win with the program with the Phoenix's victory over North Dakota State on Saturday, Feb. 17. Bocock, who became the Phoenix's all-time career wins leader last season, is the only coach in school history with 300 or more wins at the school.
• Among her highlights during Bocock's 12 seasons leading the Elon softball program include her taking the Phoenix to the CAA title game in two of the last four seasons, earning wins versus top-10 nation teams like Georgia (twice) and James Madison and coaching the lone two All-Americans in school history (Tomeka Watson '13 and Kara Shutt '16).
 
ON DECK
The Phoenix hosts Drexel for its final CAA series of the regular season next weekend, May 2-3. The program will host Senior Weekend and honor its two-person senior class of Schaal and pitcher Meredith Wells.
