Elon, N.C.- Late inning home runs from
Shane Paradine and
Kenny Mallory Jr. were not enough as the Elon Phoenix (19-28) fell in their final midweek contest of the 2024 season to the High Point Panthers (27-23). The Phoenix fell Tuesday night to the Panthers, 8-6.

Paradine and Mallory Jr. both clubbed their fifth home runs of the season on Tuesday night, becoming the sixth and seventh Phoenix to have five or more home runs. Mallory Jr. also contributed a double as well as
Alex Duffey and
Will Vergantino picking up two-baggers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- High Point struck first against Kolby Pascarelli with a solo home run to jump in front 1-0.
- Elon responded in kind with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Elon led off the inning with a double from Mallory Jr. and he was brought around with a double from Duffey. Duffey came around to score on an RBI groundout from Connor Offshack.
- Sam Nomura would relieve Pascarelli and quieted the Panther offense. Nomura contributed to a clean second and third inning.
- The Panthers drew even in the fourth on an RBI single.
- High Point put three unearned runs on the board in the fifth inning to grab the lead back.
- Elon answered with a lone run in the fifth brought in on a sacrifice fly from Vergantino.
- Following a clean sixth inning, HPU brought two more runs across in the top of the seventh with two unearned runs.
- The Phoenix got the bats going in the bottom of the eighth when Paradine got the Phoenix within two on a pinch hit, no doubt shot to trim the lead to 7-5.
- High Point added an insurance run in the top of the ninth before Elon got the run back in the bottom of the ninth with a solo, leadoff home run from Mallory Jr.
- Elon was not able to grab any more runs despite the tying run coming to the plate in the ninth and would fall, 8-6.

NOTES AND STATS
- Kolby Pascarelli made the second start of his Phoenix career and for the second straight midweek.
- Sam Nomura threw 2.1 innings on Tuesday night, following his three-inning save against Wake Forest the last midweek at Latham Park.
- Ethan Haislip made his first appearance of the season, throwing 0.2 innings in his season debut.
- Kenny Mallory Jr. had another multi-hit game, the 21st of his season. Mallory Jr. homered for the fifth time this year and scored twice.
- Shane Paradine clubbed a two-run homer in his lone at-bat of the ninth. Paradine drove in the 20th run of his season and homered for the fifth time.
- Alex Duffey put together his 11th multi-hit game of the season. Duffey doubled, scored a run, and drove in a run in the loss.
- Will Vergantino doubled and reached base on a hit-by-pitch Tuesday night. Vergantino drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and stole his eighth base of the season to lead the club.
