Murdock’s Royal Finish, Team Defense Lifts Elon Over Queens

Elon, N.C.- An Isa Murdock wonder goal in the 71st minute was enough for the Elon Phoenix to take down the Queens University of Charlotte Royals at Rudd Field Sunday night. The Phoenix prevailed 1-0 for the second straight contest and advanced to 2-0 on the season.

Murdock collected her first goal for the Phoenix since September of 2022 against Monmouth after missing all of last season. It is her first goal of the season and gives the Phoenix their first 2-0 start since 2019.

  • Shots came from Murdock and Totten within two minutes, both found the target but not the back of the net.
  • Ashlee Brehio registered her first shot of the night just before the halftime whistle blew and the scoreboard showed 0-0 at the break.
  • The Phoenix continued to pepper the net at the beginning of the second half with Ava Hellner putting a good chance just wide of the target from a corner kick.
  • Queens was able to register a few shots a shot on target, but Katie Bisgrove was able to snuff out the attempt.
  • Elon was able to break through in the 71st minute when Murdock found the back of the net after cutting in on her right foot and bent a shot into the far corner to give Elon the lead.
