• Elon returns to the national rankings this week as the Phoenix is ranked No. 22 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 media poll. After being No. 17 a week ago, Western Carolina fell out of the top 25 after a loss to Campbell dropped the Catamounts to 0-2 on the season. The Phoenix, now 1-1 on the year, will host Western Carolina Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. inside Rhodes Stadium for Elon's home opener.
• Coming off a 163-yard rushing performance, true freshman TJ Thomas Jr. was named Stats Perform National Freshman of the Week and CAA Rookie of the Week. Thomas ranks first among true freshmen in FCS Football in both rushing yards (96.5 per game) and yards per carry (8.0).
• Saturday night's game kicks off at 6:00 p.m. inside Rhodes Stadium. Elon is 24-17-2 all-time against Western Carolina, including a record of 15-4-1 at home. Elon is 4-1 inside Rhodes Stadium against the Catamounts.
• Saturday is Elon's home opener and Elon has won two straight home openers. The Phoenix is 13-10 in home openers since opening Rhodes Stadium in 2001.
• Saturday's game will be broadcast regionally on My48 and streamed on FloSports, with Taylor Durham, Khirey Walker and Hannah Bradey on the call.
