Hempstead, N.Y.- The #14/14 Elon Phoenix (7-1-1, 3-1-0) fell for the first time this season, 2-1, to the #19/22 Hofstra Pride (8-1-1, 3-1-0) on a rainy, Saturday afternoon.
Petro Klishch scored his first goal of the season in the loss with
Scott Vatne picking up the assist on the goal.
How It Happened
- Hofstra was the first side to put a shot on goal, but the attempt was snuffed out by Tomasz Wroblewski for his first save.
- Elon nearly found the opening goal when a ball from Scott Vatne found the path of Victor Stromsten who was denied the one-on-one opportunity by the Pride goalkeeper.
- Hofstra secured the opening goal in the 28th minute to grab the 1-0 lead.
- Wroblewski made another key save to keep the match 1-0 in the 36th minute.
- Elon started the second half strong with possession but couldn't find an opportunity.
- Scott Vatne was awarded a free kick from a long way out, but his knuckling shot was misplayed by the goalkeeper and Petro Klishch tapped the ball into the open goal to tie up the score at one.
- Hofstra would answer right back with a goal from a corner kick to take a 2-1 lead.
- The game would finish with that scoreline as Elon fell for the first time this season.
