Lynchburg, Va. – The Elon University women's tennis team earned a dominant 7-0 victory over Longwood on Saturday to improve to 2-0 on the season. This marks the first time the Phoenix have opened a season with back-to-back wins since the spring of 2018. The Phoenix won all nine matches and did not drop a set in singles play.

The Phoenix established control early in doubles play. The No. 1 pairing of Miray Konar and Helen Sarikulaya cruised to a 6-2 victory over Longwood's Karina Rizvanova and Phoebe Mitchell. At No. 3, Lisa Kranec and Ella Suk secured another 6-2 win, while the No. 2 duo of Mariana Reding and Simone Bergeron clinched the doubles point in a nail-biting 7-6(3) tiebreak.

Elon carried the momentum into singles action, sweeping all six matches in straight sets. At the top of the lineup, Simone Bergeron delivered a commanding 6-1, 6-4 victory over Feline Van Eijkelenburg. Helen Sarikulaya followed with a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 2, while Heidi Bulger earned a solid 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 3. Mariana Reding, Madison Cordisco, and Lisa Kranec completed the sweep with dominant performances, demonstrating the Phoenix's depth and consistency.

With the win, Elon improves to 2-0 for the first time since 2018, while Longwood drops to 0-2. The Phoenix will be back in action Friday, hosting Bellarmine at Piedmont Tennis Center at 4:00 p.m. Please note the start time change due to playing indoors Friday.
