EARLYSVILLE, Va. – Katie Blount and
Abby Beville placed fourth and eighth individually and led the Elon women's cross country team to a third-place finish overall at the Panorama Farms Invitational on Friday morning.
Blount recorded her third top-10 finish in as many races this fall by clocking 20:10.1 in the women's 6K race. Beville was close behind with a personal-record 20:33.6 – she lowered her PR by nearly five seconds – while
Hannah Weber took 17th with a PR of 20:56.3 to give the Phoenix three top-20 individual finishers. The Elon women scored 99 points in the race and trailed only host Virginia (33 points) and Virginia Tech (70) while besting the 13 other teams in the field.
Quinn Smith (21:31.8) and
Jasmine Young (21:43.0) placed 40th and 48th to round out the Phoenix women's top-50 finishers. Both
Kate Buerger (21:54.2, 53rd) and
Cami Glebocki (22:10.4, 67th) also recorded PRs.
Elon's men placed 13th out of 15 teams in the 8K race field with 369 points. Freshmen
Juan Pablo Castillo-Zima (26:02.9, 94th) and
Luke Chisum (26:17.8, 101st) led the Phoenix while sophomore
Jack Kane (26:27.2, 111th) rounded out the top three Elon finishers.
