ELON – Elon's men's and women's cross country teams will trek to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for the Paul Short Run on Friday. The races will take place at Lehigh's Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The Phoenix women will compete in the women's 6K "Gold" race at 11:45 a.m. ET, followed by the men running the men's 8K "Brown" race at 2 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT
- Senior Katie Blount broke Elon's women's 5K school record, running 16:41.4 at the adidas XC Challenge in Cary. The record-setting effort came in Blount's first cross country race since 2023 after she redshirted in 2024. Blount finished eighth in the women's race to lead the Elon women to five place overall with 143 points.
- Blount was closely followed by Abby Beville, who took 12th in 17:05.2.
- The Elon men placed sixth in the 6K run, led by top-50 finishes from Caden Strickland, Jack Kane and Juan Pablo Castillo-Zima.
WHAT TO KNOW – ELON WOMEN
- Blount was named the Coastal Athletic Association Runner of the Week following her record-breaking run at the adidas XC Challenge. She joined Beville as Elon's CAA weekly award winners this season; Beville earned the honor on Sept. 2 after winning the Elon Opener 4K with a personal-best 13:36.6.
- Beville was named Coastal Athletic Association Co-Runner of the Week on Sept. 2 for her performance at the Elon Opener. The junior's 13:36.6 was a personal-best time in the 4K and earned Beville her first collegiate cross country win.
- The Phoenix last competed at the Paul Short Run in 2022 when the women took seventh place.
WHAT TO KNOW – ELON MEN
- The Elon men were 16th at the 2022 edition of the Paul Short Run with senior Caden Strickland being the lone Phoenix on this year's roster who competed at the event.
- Strickland has been the Phoenix's top men's finisher in both races so far this season, placing 34th at the adidas XC Challenge (19.09.6, 6K) and 13th at the Elon Opener (18:47.2, 6K).
