RICHMOND, Va. – Elon women's basketball sophomore
Jayda Angel has been named to the preseason All-CAA First Team, as voted on by the conference's head women's basketball coaches and announced by the league office Thursday.
A standout from Fayetteville, Angel enters her second season with the Phoenix after earning both CAA Rookie of the Year and Sixth Player of the Year honors in 2024-25. She finished second on the team in scoring (9.9 PPG) and steals (1.6 SPG), and third in assists (1.3 APG), while posting 12 double-figure scoring performances. She led Elon in scoring eight times and collected a league-best five CAA Rookie of the Week honors, all while coming off the bench.
The CAA also released its preseason predicted order of finish, with Elon tabbed fifth in the standings, the program's highest spot since the 2022-23 season, when the Phoenix were picked fourth. Charleston was selected as the preseason favorite, receiving eight of 13 first-place votes, followed by Drexel and North Carolina A&T.
Elon will open the 2025-26 season on Nov. 3 on the road at ETSU. The Phoenix's slate also features 14 home games at Schar Center, a Power 4 road matchup at North Carolina, and a trip to Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
