RICHMOND, Va. – Elon redshirt junior
Katie Blount was voted as the Coastal Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
It's the third time Blount has earned at least a share of the conference's weekly honor this season; she shared this week's award with William & Mary's Perry Irons.
Blount – who previously earned the CAA award on Sept. 23 and Oct. 7 – was recognized after finishing fourth individually in a field of 154 women with a time of 20:10.1 at the Panorama Farms Invitational 6K last Friday in Earlysville, Virginia. She led the Phoenix to a third-place finish overall in a competitive 16-team field that included nationally ranked Virginia and NC State.
The Atlanta native has finished among the top 10 individually in all three of her races; she was previously tabbed the CAA Runner of the Week after setting school records at the adidas XC Challenge 5K (16:41.4) and the Paul Short Run 6K (20:02.9).
Blount and the Phoenix now set their sights on the CAA Championships, hosted at Ocean County Park in West Long Branch, New Jersey, on Oct. 31.
