ORONO, Maine – The Elon football team surrendered 28 consecutive points in an eventual 35-14 road loss to Maine on Saturday afternoon at Alfond Stadium.

The Phoenix (4-5, 2-3 CAA) mustered a season-low 231 total yards of offense en route to its third consecutive conference loss while the Black Bears (4-4, 3-1) notched their fourth win a row.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elon scored first for the fifth straight game to start CAA play this fall when Jimmyll Williams took his first carry of the afternoon 17 yards for six points with 4:17 on the clock in the first quarter.
- Williams' rushing score capped an eight-play, 69-yard drive by the Phoenix that included a 26-yard pass from Landen Clark to Kenaz McMillian on a 3rd and 4.
- The Phoenix led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter as its defense held Maine to 44 yards offensively throughout the first 15 minutes of play.
- Momentum flipped in the second quarter as Maine took a 14-7 lead into the locker room. Elon's offense was stifled, totaling just five offensive yards on eight plays, while the Black Bears' Carter Peavy was 12-of-15 passing for 148 yards and two touchdowns in the frame.
- Maine continued to control tempo after halftime, limiting Elon to another 22 offensive yards while forcing a Phoenix fumble in the third quarter. The Black Bears scored 21 second-half points, including 14 in the fourth quarter on an 85-yard punt return for a score by Scott Woods and 61-yard rush by Rashawn Marshall.
- TJ Thomas Jr. set up Elon's second score of the afternoon in the fourth quarter with a 52-yard kick return to the Maine 44. The Phoenix found the endzone five plays later when Clark hit Isaiah Fuhrmann for a 15-yard touchdown pass with 9:47 remaining in the game.

NOTES & STATS
- Elon fell to 3-4 all-time against Maine.
- Isaiah Fuhrmann extended his team lead in touchdown receptions to five with his 15-yard, fourth-quarter score. The sophomore ended his day with three catches for 31 yards.
- TJ Thomas Jr.'s 52-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter was a season long. He also had a 40-yard return in the third quarter and finished with a season-high 123 total yards on four kickoff returns.
- Jesse Powell II led Elon with two tackles for loss in an eight-tackle performance. He and Brodie Carroll were tied for the team-lead with eight total tackles.
- Landen Clark completed a season-high 16 passes (16 of 23) for 128 yards. Although he threw his eighth interception of the year on Elon's first drive, the redshirt freshman also tossed his 11th touchdown later in the contest when he found Fuhrmann in the end zone. He was sacked a season-high five times.
- Jeff Yurk averaged 51.8 yards per punt on four boots, including a 60-yarder in the first half.
- Jimmyll Williams rushed for a team-high 48 yards on seven carries. Clark had 42 yards on 18 attempts.
