BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Elon redshirt junior
Katie Blount continued her record-breaking season on Friday by setting her second cross country school record in as many races with a time of 19:37.1 in the women's 6K at the Paul Short Run.
Â
Blount placed second overall in a field of 350 women to lead the Elon women to a 10th-place finish out of 40 teams with 317 points. Her time of 19:37.1 smashed the previous school record of 20:02.9, set by Leandra Lorenz at the 2022 edition of the Paul Short Run. In just two events this Fall – her first cross country races since 2023 after redshirting the 2024 season – Blount has set Elon's women's 5K record (16:41.4 at the adidas XC Challenge on Sept. 19) and 6K record.

Junior
Abby Beville highlighted nine other Phoenix women who contributed to the 10th-place team finish. Beville set a personal record in 20:38.1 – the eighth-fastest women's 6K time in program history – to place 38th.
Jasmine Young (21:11.6) and
Sarah Petitjean (21:13.2) also posted personal bests and top-100 finishes by placing 86th and 88th, respectively.
Â
The Elon men placed 18th out of 38 teams that competed in the men's 8K "Brown" race.
Joe Lavelle paced the Phoenix in 51st at 25:35.9 and was joined by
Juan Pablo Castillo-Zima (90th; 25.56.4) and
Jack Kane (91st; 25:56.5) as top-100 finishers.
