- Elon took a 20-19 lead with 7:41 remaining in the half thanks to a 3-pointer by Kamryn Doty and defensive stops. The Bison came back to take a 26-22 lead before a last-second floater from Maraja Pass cut the Phoenix deficit to 26-24.
- The teams traded baskets to open the second half, with Elon holding a 31-30 advantage after back-to-back buckets from Ashanti Fox. Howard countered with an 8-0 run to lead 38-31 with 2:25 remaining and eventually ended the quarter up 41-32.
- Elon cut into Howard's lead with eight of the first 12 points in the fourth quarter – including a pair of 3-pointers by Walker – and trailed by five, 45-40, with 6:41 to go. The teams traded baskets from there, with the Phoenix unable to make up enough ground to pull off the victory.
