Elon Blasts N.C. A&T In 2025 Finale

Elon Scores Its Most Points In CAA Contest With 55-17 Rout

ELON – The Elon football team closed its 2025 season in emphatic fashion on Saturday afternoon, rolling past North Carolina A&T 55-17 at Rhodes Stadium. The Phoenix (6-6, 4-4 CAA) improved to .500 on the year with its second consecutive win, piling up 468 yards of offense while forcing three turnovers.

Elon quarterback Landen Clark delivered a dominant two-way performance, accounting for six total touchdowns. The redshirt freshman threw for 231 yards and four scores and added 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by an 86-yard sprint up the sideline in the fourth quarter, which set the Elon single-season rushing touchdown record.

N.C. A&T dropped to 2-10 (2-6) on the season with the defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Elon set the tone immediately, needing just six seconds to score on its opening possession when Clark hit Landyn Backey on a 29-yard strike for a 7-0 lead. The single-play touchdown drive came after DJ James-Hamilton took the game's opening kickoff 66 yards to the N.C. A&T 26-yard line.
  • After Clark powered in a two-yard rushing touchdown, Luke Barnes connected on a 27-yard field goal and the Phoenix led 17-0 after 15 minutes of play.
  • N.C. A&T got on the board with a 34-yard field goal at the start of the second quarter, but Elon responded instantly. Clark connected with Isaiah Fuhrmann on a 76-yard touchdown, and after the Aggies countered with a scoring drive, the Phoenix tacked on a Barnes field goal and a 19-yard touchdown run by Dan Frederick to take a 34-10 lead into halftime.
  • Fuhrmann continued his big day with a nine-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter. Minutes later, Clark hit Zimere Winston in stride for a 54-yard touchdown, extending the margin to 48-17.
  • Clark's long touchdown run punctuated the dominant performance by the Phoenix offense.
  • Defensively, Elon overwhelmed the Aggies, recording nine sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and forcing three fumbles.

NOTES & STATS
  • Elon's 55 points were its most against a CAA opponent since joining the league in 2014. The total matched the Phoenix's season high (55 vs. Davidson on Sept. 6) and tied for their highest output in a game since a 56-0 win over Davidson on Sept. 5, 2009.
  • The Phoenix scored on eight of its first nine drives.
  • Kahmari Brown spearheaded the Phoenix's defensive dominance with 8.0 tackles, 3.0 TFL, 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. The sophomore is now tied for Elon's career sacks record (16.5) after just 23 career games played.
  • Brodie Carroll added a team-high 10 tackles and Tony Hart III recorded an interception and a fumble recovery.
  • Clark's second rushing touchdown of the day was his 11th this season, which broke Elon's single-season record previously shared by John Taylor (2004) and Jalen Hampton (2022).
  • Both Clark (105 rushing yards) and Dan Frederick (101) had career highs on the ground. It's the first time a pair of Elon teammates have rushed for 100 yards in a game since Jamal Shuman and AJ Harris did so against Presbyterian in 2009.
  • It was the third time this season that Clark passed and rushed for multiple touchdowns in the same game.
  • Isaiah Fuhrmann ended his day with 111 receiving yards on five receptions. It was his fourth 100-yard game of the season, as the sophomore ended the campaign with 46 catches for 907 yards and nine touchdowns.
  • Luke Barnes was a perfect 2-for-2 kicking Saturday and improved to 11-for-11 when inside 40 yards this season.
  • Elon celebrated 23 senior student-athletes prior to Saturday's kickoff during a senior ceremony.
