Landen Clark Named Jerry Rice Award Finalist

Elon Quarterback One Of Three CAA Freshman Recognized

Elon redshirt freshman quarterback Landen Clark was selected as a Jerry Rice Award finalist, Stats Perform announced Monday afternoon. The award, named after Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, is given to the national freshman of the year at the FCS level.

Clark is one of six quarterbacks named to the 25-player finalist list, and one of three CAA players selected. Previous Jerry Rice Award winners include current NFL athletes Cooper Kupp, Trey Lance, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.

Clark is the first Phoenix since Davis Cheek (2017) to be named a finalist.

Elon's starting quarterback has been one of the top passers and rushers in the CAA this season. Clark finished fifth in the CAA in passing touchdowns (18) and first amongst freshmen. His 2,321 passing yards were sixth overall in the conference and second amongst freshmen. He concluded this season with the second most total touchdowns in a season in Elon history (29).

As a rushing threat, he ran for 614 yards, second most among quarterbacks in the CAA. His 11 rushing touchdowns are the most by a player in a season in Elon's FCS era.

The winner of the Jerry Rice Award will be announced on Dec. 3 and honored at the Stats Perform National Awards Show on Jan. 3 in Nashville, Tennessee.
