- Lavelle continued to roll and retired batters in the fourth and fifth inning without trouble.
- Elon provided Lavelle with cushion in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of runs from an Alec Welshans solo home run and an RBI single from Ryan Sprock.
- The Phoenix put up two more in the sixth on a two-RBI double from Justin Szestowicki to extend the Elon lead to five.
- A Fattore sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth resulted in another run coming across to score.
