Box Score NORFOLK, Va. – The Elon University men's tennis team put forth a determined effort on Sunday afternoon but fell 7-0 to Old Dominion at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. Despite the final score, the Phoenix remained competitive throughout the match, pushing several singles and doubles contests to the brink.

Elon nearly secured the doubles point, with the No. 3 duo of Charles Pilet and Juan Sengariz forcing a tiebreaker before ultimately dropping a hard-fought 7-6 (8-6) decision. On court two, Rafael Ymer and Jack Curtis battled but came up just short in a 6-4 defeat, while the No. 1 pairing of Veljko Krstic and Oskar Antinheimo were locked in a 6-6 battle before their match was left unfinished.

In singles play, Rafael Ymer put together a gritty performance at the No. 2 spot, winning the opening set 6-4 before ODU's Connor van Schalkwyk rallied to take the match in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-3). 

At the top of the lineup, Veljko Krstic bounced back from a tough first set to push ODU's Cosme Rolland De Ravel to a second-set tiebreak before falling 6-0, 7-6 (7-4). Charles Pilet and Oskar Antinheimo also stayed within striking distance in their respective matches, but ODU managed to close out each contest in straight sets.

Despite the setback, the Phoenix showed resilience against a challenging opponent. Elon will look to regroup as they continue their regular season, playing at Coastal Carolina Friday at noon.
